Analisis Konflik Gender dalam Novel "Memoar Seorang Dokter Perempuan" Karya Nawal El Saadawi
This study analyzes gender conflict in Nawal El Saadawi's novel “Memoirs of a Woman Doctor” through a qualitative approach based on literature review. By integrating Ritzer and Stepnisky's Gender Conflict Theory, Postcolonial Feminism, and Semiotic Theory, this study reveals the representation of gender conflict through the author's experiences of facing subordination, harassment, stigma against professional ambition, and identity crisis within a patriarchal social structure. The author demonstrates resistance to patriarchal norms that limit her autonomy and identity through her struggle to become a doctor, defying stereotypes of women as subordinates or aesthetic objects. The Islamic approach, based on the perspectives of Fatima Mernisi, Amina Wadud, and Asma Barlas, interprets gender inequality as a deviation from the principle of ontological equality in the Qur'an, which is often influenced by patriarchal cultural interpretations. This study highlights the contradiction between the value of equality in Islam and discriminatory cultural practices, while also emphasizing the author's struggle as a form of women's empowerment in line with the spirit of Islamic equality. This study contributes to the understanding of resistance to patriarchy and the relevance of Islamic values in the context of feminism.
