The WannaCry ransomware attack had been a global phenomenon which caused severe damages to the United Kingdom, especially its National Health Service. This paper is aiming to determine the British government’s responses towards the crisis caused by the attack, and assess some constraints or challenges the United Kingdom faced to handle the crisis. With descriptive analytical method, this research is using the security concept of the Copenhagen School paradigm, and analyzing the United Kingdom’s responses using the securitization theory. Theory of Constraints is used to determine constraints. The result of this study shows that United Kingdom had been using securitization schemes as its response to the cyber crisis by several speech acts by the authorities, taking several extraordinary measures for mitigating the crisis, and normalize the political situation to maintain stable atmosphere. The study also showed that the United Kingdom was facing some internal and external constraints during the period of time.
